Five fundamental reasons for going vegan are: Health, Animals, Environment, justice (human rights protection) and taste (because vegan food is delicious). However, related topics are not limited by this shortlist. Any vegan could name hundreds of reasons and benefits of the vegan lifestyle, that is, if you are willing to listen 😉
There is such a tremendous amount of information on veganism out there, so to make it easier for you, I have compiled a list of resources that are, in my opinion, the most useful and impactful. To begin with, I invite you to acquaint yourself with reasons for going vegan in two of my compilations: Top 5 Short Veganism-Related YouTube Videos and my list of Must-Watch Documentaries that answer so many questions related to veganism and go in depth in discovery of all the aspects of veganism from ethics to health.

Top 5 Useful Websites for Vegans:
There are a lot of websites where all resources about veganism are accumulated (both in Russian and in English). I even thought to myself: “why should I do my own resource page, if everything is already available online?“. I often think this way about what I do, but then I remind myself that every approach for doing something is unique. Same as the audience – some may find websites I like overwhelming. For that case, maybe my short summary will be appealing. I aim to provide general information, thereby explaining my position that there is no such thing as “the main reason to go vegan“, because all reasons are too important to be at second place. There is a lot to learn.
1. National Center for Biotechnology Information
— useful resource for truth seekers. This is the website that is most often referred to as the primary source of information. The site publishes reports on the most relevant research in the genomic and biomedical fields.
2. Plant-Based Doctors
— an international listing of healthcare practitioners who understand the power of nutrition in preventing and reversing chronic disease. This site is very useful, I hope the database will grow, so in the future it will be possible to find the right doctor, no matter where you live.
— Pro-Veg is a non-profit organization, that aims to solve multiple urgent problems by helping people transition to more sustainable diet in a healthy way. They are dedicated to raising awareness about benefits of plant-based diet. I really like this website, it has clean design, well-organized, and they publish relevant information and news. One of the founder of Proveg is Melanie Joy.
4. Happy Cow
— a place where you can easily navigate to find a vegan or vegan-friendly restaurant with reviews (like TripAdvisor). Also, they have a rich database of vegan, vegetarian and organic stores and services, which grows every day. An App is also available — very convenient in travels.
— this is a nice website with clean design that can help you find vegan & cruelty-free alternatives to most everyday products. Unfortunately it covers only UK market, but many brands are easy to find in other countries as well. The article for craft and art vegan alternatives was useful for me. For now, I don’t know better website for this purposes, but if I will find something, I’ll make an update. The market of vegan cosmetics and vegan art supplies is still a “dark forest” for me.
