Last weekend we went to Troodos for trail running. Mountains in Cyprus are not so steep, so most of the trails are very easy. This particular trail (Persephone Trail ) is just 6 km long, but I like it for good panoramic views.
I miss our mountains in Almaty though. The main difference – you always have a higher destination to go to. Hiking in Cyprus (at least for me) feels more like walking without particular goal. So it is a great hack to turn these walks into runs, in order to make it more meaningful and to feel this special physical tension in the body. This is what makes hiking so attractive to me – feeling of accomplishment afterwards…
I never did trail running in Almaty and I regret it. Now I see posts of people who do that and I can only imagine how far you can go this way in one day! How much beauty you can soak in, having almost nothing in your backpack and just enjoying the sensation and amazing abilities of your own body…..
And of course the best part of this type of events – nice goood meal 😁! Food always tastes better in open air!
